Au Pair: Olimpia Alejandra Ramirez Luevanos from Mexico
Host Family: Key Family in Tennessee

I would like to nominate Olimpia Ramirez for "Au Pair of the Year". I am a mother of four children and I work a full time job outside of the house. My husband also works full time and travels so he is only home on the weekends. I have two girls ages 12 and 9 and two boys ages 6 and 4 so we have a very busy household.
Olimpia was responsible for waking up all the children helping the younger ones get ready and the older ones get ready on time for school. She made them breakfast and packed there lunches. Cheese quesadillas soon became there favorite breakfast!! The older three took the bus and the youngest was driven to school by Olimpia. During the day Olimpia had free time to herself. The exception was if one of the children were ill then Olimpia took care of them while I went to work.
I work as a Nurse Anesthetist so it is difficult for me to miss work as there is no one to take my place. She also would pick the kids up from school if they became ill during the day. She was my angel. It is very stressful when your child is ill and needs you and you are unable to leave work because you are caring for a patient. What a relief knowing that a loving caring person, Olimpia, was there for my children until I could get home from work. Also it is my desire to raise four strong healthy individuals, of course this means they are all in different activities at different times. Olimpia and I racked up many miles in the car transporting the kids to there various activities. She was supportive of all there activities and enthusiastic for them. Olimpia also helped me with meals and homework. She would help one child while I helped another.
She was there for me and my family always. In December my daughter needed an operation which required a specialist. I had to fly with my daughter to New York for the operation and we were gone a whole week. Olimpia was wonderful. She took care of my other three children with my husband and I never had to worry about them the whole time I was gone. I knew my children were in safe loving hands and I was able to focus on my sick child. Olimpia will always be a member of our family. She taught us so many things, about herself, her country and her language. She taught me that it is possible for someone else to love my children as much as I do. That is what makes Olimpia an exceptional au pair.
